standard Samsung Galaxy S5 and New Gear Set to Launch Around April; Might Showcase New Design and Materials

Samsung

Love it or loathe it, the Samsung Galaxy brand are the champions of Android, and one of the most successful brand lines in the world; especially their flagship line of “S” phones. Now according to an interview with  Lee Young Hee, the executive vice president; we can expect the Samsung Galaxy S5 to launch Sometime around April of this year, alongside it we can even expect a refresh to the not so popular Galaxy Gear smartwatch.

So what should we expect in these new devices, well for the S5 the focus will be on a new design and possibly even new build material (read: premium feel?) to give it a larger distinction from the S3 and S4 which were almost identical in shape and form; as for the Galaxy gear the main focus would be to decrease the bulkiness, while increasing the functionality, which is quite limited at the moment.

“We’ve been announcing our first flagship model in the first half of each year, around March and April, and we are still targeting for release around that time. When we release our S5 device, you can also expect a Gear successor with more advanced functions, and the bulky design will also be improved.”

“When we moved to S4 from S3, it’s partly true that consumers couldn’t really feel much difference between the two products from the physical perspective, so the market reaction wasn’t as big. For the S5, we will go back to the basics. Mostly, it’s about the display and the feel of the cover.”

It’s also possible that the S5 might feature an Iris scanning technology of sorts to unlock the phone, which will more than likely end up as a gimmick feature who’s only purpose would be to the rival the iPhone’s Touch ID.
