standard Lumia 1525= Lumia 1520 + WP 8.1 + Snapdragon 801Coming to T-Mobile, At&t and Verizon

Mix RadioEarlier @evleaks announced that a new phone listed as the “Lumia 1525” would be coming to T-mobile soon, we speculated that it was most probably a Lumia 1520 refresh with WP 8.1 and new colors. Apparently we were pretty right about that except that according to @evleaks it will also carry a new Soc chip, rocking the latest Snapdragon 801 processor.

The Lumia 1525 from Nokia by Microsoft is a Windows Phone 8.1-powered 1520 with the SoC upgraded to a Snapdragon 801. Besides T-Mobile, it’s also going to — wait for it, wait for it — AT&T and Verizon.

Currently the Lumia 1520 has a Snapdragon 800 processor, which is quite decent in itself; but a refresh is always nice. Unfortunately a refresh might mean that we won’t be seeing a newer version for a while longer as its just been given a second breath of life.

Perfect time for getting the regular 1520 as the 1525 will launch at a higher price point but I don’t see a conflict between ditching the Snapdragon 800 for the 801.

    • Good point, but I think the 1525 will be US only, so not much would change outside the US
