Joe Belfiore just announced an upcoming update for Windows Phone 8.1, dubbed Update 1. This update is a quick release for the OS given that WP 8.1 went live just this month; and should be available as part of the developer preview program next week. In this update we can expect to see some minor updates, such as:
- the inclusion of start screen folders on your Windows Phone
- Apps Corner, which allows usage of only specific apps when business mode is activated on the phone (like Kids corner, but for big kids).
- Support for new screen resolutions
- Smart cover support
- Consumer VPN
- Updates to Xbox Music
- Merging and forwarding multiple SMSs at once
That as well as other features are part of the upcoming changelog for Update 1 of WP 8.1, which is shaping up to be a nice little update; especially coming so soon after WP 8.1. The update should be available starting August 4th, anyone excited?
