standard Microsoft Patents “Inconspicuous Mode” to Make Your Phone Less Annoying

Screen-Shot-2015-01-18-at-8.06.21-amEarlier this month Microsoft was granted a patent for a new “inconspicuous mode” for Windows Phone. The patent covers changing the phone’s interaction to make it less obtrusive and “annoying” when in a meeting or a movie theater. By monitoring our calendar appointments and sensor interactions the phone can detect if you’re in a movie theater or a similar setting where a loud and bright phone could be obtrusive.

When activated the mode mutes phone sounds, reduces screen brightness and reduces the amount of information displayed on the lock-screen. The mode would be triggered automatically with the option to turn it off/on manually.
