Earlier this week Whatsapp rolled out a new service to their users on Android, allowing them to place calls through the service, similar to Skype or Viber. However there hasn’t been any official word on when Windows Phone users would get a chance to use the service, until now. The Whatsapp team have confirmed that the service is under development for Windows Phone, but haven’t been able to provide an ETA for release.
“WhatsApp Calling for your platform is still in the works. Unfortunately, we cannot comment on any future release timelines but we appreciate your interest in WhatsApp Calling.”
If it’s any consolation, iOS users don’t have access to the service yet, in fact they still can’t use Whatsapp through the web, something Windows Phone users can do.
