Earlier today the Lumia 640 XL landed on our desk, so of course we’ve gone ahead and unboxed it as you would expect. Check out our unboxing video below, then read on below to see what our quick first impressions are so far:
The Lumia 640 XL is essentially a phablet, with a 5.7″ 720p screen and a body that’s almost as big as the Lumia 1520 (more on that in a second video soon to come). The body has a plastic removable shell, which unfortunately doesn’t ooze premium build quality like the Lumia 930 or 1520 do, in fact it does feel pretty…cheap. However the 9 mm thin profile does give it a pretty slim look and feel, something that’s always welcome. Nonetheless so far the screen has held up nicely, and it’s always nice to have Glance screen back on my phone (I didn’t realize how badly I missed it on my Lumia 930). In my quick poking around it seems that the front facing camera on the 640 XL doesn’t play nice with the bright incandescent lights in my room, but we’ll be sure to give it a try in proper daylight and see what it’s like. If there’s something in particular you’d like to see reviewed/focused on please leave a comment below and I’ll try my best to cover it. Cheers.
