standard Build 10536 for Windows 10 Mobile now Available, Brings One-Handed Mode to All Devices Along with Much Needed Bug Fixes

windows10 630After a long hiatus, Microsoft have finally rolled out a new build for the Windows 10 mobile beta, insider preview program. The latest build, 10356 brings a large number of much-needed bug fixes and stability updates. Mainly it addresses the issue where the start screen would fail to load on some device, rendering the phone mostly useless.

W10_Phone_Photos_Folders_9x16_en-US_adines-01-newNew in this build is the fact that the one-handed mode intended for large screen devices/phablets is now available to all screen sizes, from the smallest to the largest of them. Microsoft have also tweaked the new photos app, adding a folders view, that gives a quick glance/access to SD card folders, internal storage, as well OneDrive photos.

Microsoft have also enabled sending feedback directly to the build teams, through the Windows Feedback app. Hopefully this will help with future development of upcoming builds.

Of course the current build isn’t without its own set of bugs or issues, including:

  • After rebooting your phone, you won’t see notifications, such as new messages, until you unlock your phone. After that, you should see notifications for new messages just fine.
  • “zStorage” appears in the Settings app under System and clicking on it causes the Settings app to crash.
  • Camera upload to OneDrive may not be enabled based on prior settings. To fix this, make sure you are running the latest version of OneDrive by opening the top left navigation bar, then settings on the right to verify that camera upload is turned on and you have the latest app (version 17.2).
  • Insiders will not be able to move from Slow to Fast rings temporarily; we are working on a fix but in the interim to move a device from Slow to Fast you will need to use the Windows Phone Recovery Tool to first start on Windows Phone 8.1 and opt directly into the Fast ring.
  • Additional languages for speech and keyboards won’t be available until tomorrow (9/15) and will error if you try to download. If you already have languages for speech and keyboards downloaded to your phone prior to upgrading, they will remain and available to use.

Have you updated to the latest build yet? If so what do you think of it?

The build is quite stable now…
Btw, you didn’t mention anything about this: “We also wanted to talk a little bit about Lumia 1020 camera features on
Windows 10. Owners of the Lumia 1020 love using their phone’s amazing
camera to capture high-fidelity photos and videos. If you recently
upgraded your Lumia 1020 to a Windows 10 Insider Preview build, you
might have been disappointed that your camera wasn’t working like you
expect. Many of the Lumia 1020’s camera features, like 41MP capture and
DNG files, only work with the Lumia Camera app. While the app works with
Windows 10 Mobile, it won’t be available for download from the Store
    until later this fall.”

Hello jjkj. Thank you for commenting about MyNokiaBlog. I miss being able to write about a bunch of news on MNB.
I have been extremely busy with losing two IT technicians on my job and new responsibilities at home to where I haven’t written or produced any new content in months.
I hope with the time off from work in the upcoming holiday seasons and the new Windows 10 phones, I will have the time and the news/devices to write about.
The only new hardware I have acquired since my last article on MNB is a HTC One M8 for Windows, Lumia 830 and Lumia 435. Those devices joined my 1520, 1020, 808, N8, Nexus 5, iPad 4, iPhone 4S, Dell Venue 8 Pro and Microsoft Band. I also purchase a Sony Alpha 6000 camera and Sony HDR CX-900 that will make for great device photos and videos but I started my own photography company ( so I have yet to use them for MyNokiaBlog or GeekOnGadgets. Soooooooooo little time. :(
Is there any news or videos in particular that you would like to see? Any particular questions about any of my listed devices? I would love to answer questions and make videos as soon as I have time.
I hope to get the Lumia 950XL when it comes out but more than likely I will end up with whatever AT&T provides via the Next program.
I too….miss the good ole days of checking MNB daily to see posts from the rest of the MNB team and being able to contribute articles as well.

Right now it is 10:54 PM, I haven’t had dinner and it’s time for bed, just to be up early for work tomorrow, that’s just an example of how busy things are for me. I just wanted to let you know that we are still here and still care about our readers but a lot of things have come into our lives out of necessity and we all hope to have more time to do the things we personally love to do and not just the things we have to do in life.
Thank you for visiting GeekOnGadgets, fondly remembering MyNokiaBlog and for your comments.

        I can understand.

It’s great to know that you guys are still trying your best.
There’s nothing in specific that I would like to see. But I have been following MNB and now GOG and want these to continue.
